Waning Gibbous Moon Insights, Detoxifying Recipes, and Calming Movements

The Waning Gibbous Moon, occurring after the Full Moon, is a period characterized by release, letting go, and introspection. This phase lasts for about 7 days, during which the illuminated portion of the Moon becomes smaller each night. It’s a time to harness the powerful energy of the Full Moon to rid oneself of negativity or obstacles, reflect on personal growth, and start setting intentions for the next lunar cycle.

Recommended Meal: A cleansing soup, like a Detox Vegetable Soup, aligns well with the releasing energy of this phase.

Detox Vegetable Soup:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 zucchini, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups chopped kale or spinach
  • 1 cup canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery, zucchini, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in turmeric, ginger, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add vegetable broth and diced tomatoes, bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Stir in kale (or spinach) and chickpeas, cooking until greens are wilted.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.

Recommended Movement: Given the introspective energy of the Waning Gibbous Moon, gentle yoga, particularly yin or restorative yoga, would be an appropriate choice. These forms of yoga involve holding poses for longer periods, allowing the body to open up and release tension. A focus on breathing exercises (pranayama) can also complement the calming, releasing energy of this moon phase.
