Thank You, Fear

We can actually be grateful for fear.

Fear is an ancient survival tool, hardwired into us to keep us safe.

It’s been looking out for us since the days of early humans when sticking with the group wasn’t just a preference—it was the difference between life and, well… being some predator’s lunch.

Fear is a natural instinct, designed to protect us from pain. Sometimes, that means physical danger (like, don’t touch that hot stove!), but more often, fear is trying to shield us from emotional or social hurt.

Ever wonder why public speaking is one of the most common fears?

Turns out, our brains are still running a survival script from millions of years ago.

It tells us that if they judge you, you might get kicked out of the group. And if you get kicked out… you might not make it.”

Even though we’re no longer living in caves, our wiring still tells us that rejection = danger.

The reality, though, is that so many of our fears—the fear of rejection, of looking foolish, of asking for help—actually isolate us from each other.

But the irony? Those fears are exactly what we all have in common.

Fear isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s just trying to do its job.

And maybe, just maybe, we can thank it for the heads-up… and then step forward anyway.

Always,

Your Trusted Friend ♥
