The concept of “inspired action” has been occupying my thoughts as of late, prompting a deeper exploration of what it means to me.
For me, it encapsulates the deliberate and proactive pursuit of our aspirations—a conscious choice to carve out our destinies. It is an intentional action driven by core beliefs and values, signaling a commitment to actively shape our own narratives.
Reflecting on my own journey, my earliest career dreams were as diverse as they were ambitious, ranging from aspiring to be a Coast Guard rescue diver to envisioning a life as a motivational speaker. However, my path unfolded in unexpected ways, and my young adult life wasn’t characterized by inspired action; instead, it was a passive journey of letting life shape my career trajectory.
If I am being honest with myself, it was even more than this, I let life carve my trajectory in general and followed where it led.
While I am grateful for the lessons and revelations my path has offered, I acknowledge that many of my choices were not driven by inspiration.
This contemplation invites you to reflect on your own journey—whether you are letting life happen to you or actively shaping your narrative.
Inspired action, to me, isn’t about avoiding challenges; it’s about confronting them purposefully. As I navigate the shifts I can make to live a life of inspired action, I encourage you to consider where you might infuse inspired action into your own story.
The realization is that the journey to purposeful living is not a fixed destination but a continuous pursuit.
There will be periods where we are called to go with the flow, but there will also be times when we are asked to do and be more.
Whether we are charting our course or merely going with the flow, each step contributes to the narrative of our lives.
Is your life one that is defined by inspired action, or by letting life happen to you?
Always,
