Shadow Seeker: Childhood Wounds

Welcome to the end of week one meditation for the Shadow Seeker journey. For this session, you can follow the recorded meditation by The Clever Confidante, available on Spotify and most streaming services, or conduct your own meditation. During the meditation, visualize meeting your younger self and conversing with them. Allow them to express their feelings and insights from the visualization. Take note of any emotions or realizations that arise during this process.

As I completed the week one meditation, I encountered my younger self in the sacred visualization space. She looked at me with eyes filled with vulnerability and confessed her deep-seated belief that she wasn’t good enough. She shared how she constantly strove to be ‘good’ yet felt like she was always falling short, never measuring up to those around her. She expressed her insecurities about always saying the wrong thing, feeling too loud, and being labeled weird by others for her unique insights and ‘what-ifs’.

At that moment, I held her close, feeling the weight of her pain and uncertainty. Speaking from the wisdom of my present self, I reassured her that someday, these qualities she perceives as flaws will become her greatest strength. I told her that she feels insecure about many things will be her gifts to the world, the ‘a-has’ illuminating the path for others.

Embracing my younger self was a decisive moment of integrating the past with the present, releasing any resistance to loving myself as I am, and moving into a new state of being. One that is empowered by who I am, not ashamed or stuck in the comparison trap.
