There have been times that I’ve found myself held hostage by my own thoughts.
Beating myself up over past decisions, rethinking and ruminating over things I can’t change, and paralyzed by my fear of the unknown.
These are ways I’ve kept myself imprisoned within my own mind, a cruel confinement crafted from doubts, insecurities, and a searing self-talk that pierces the very core of my being.
We are our own worst enemies. We are our own prison guards.
There is no one we can blame for the places that we get stuck, the things we refuse to do, and the doubts that we plant the seeds of in our minds.
Others may hand us, stick by stick, their criticisms, and doubts, their naysaying and objections –
but we take those sticks and erect the walls of our own prisons.
We hold ourselves hostage with our past, holding onto guilt, remorse, and what-ifs.
I’ve thought of how we barricade ourselves with things we cannot change. Those things outside of our power that we let occupy our thoughts.
We imprison ourselves with fear of the unknown, stuck in indecision because we’re unsure of the steps we need to take, uncertain of the outcome.
But there are so many ways we stay stuck and don’t allow ourselves to bloom, to take chances, to evolve, and to level up.
I, for one, am consciously letting go of these self-imposed constraints and setting myself free.
There is an exquisite beauty awaiting us when we find the courage to release the shackles of fear, doubt, and insecurity.
In this liberation, we unfold like petals reaching for the sun, embracing the boundless possibilities that lie beyond our self-imposed constraints.
As I consciously embark on this journey of emancipation, I am discovering a newfound radiance in the simplicity of being free to bloom, evolve, and ascend to new levels.
